The City of Novi celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2019 and the city council wanted to kick-off the year-long celebration with a commemorative calendar.
One design challenge was to blend the history of Novi with the current 2019 calendar of events. Another design challenge was to properly tell the history of Novi with image, type, and iconography. These three visual elements needed to merge 1969 with 2019.
Historical photos, digital image manipulation, retro and modern typography, one-color icons, and a simple color palette brought the 50th Anniversary calendar to life.
The city council also requested that a unique mark be created to celebrate 50 years of Novi. The logo and identity needed to fit seamlessly with the existing logo, and also clearly communicate that the City was celebrating 50 years of incorporation.
